Brian developed his palpatory and treatment skills back in the days when skills were passed down under the master/apprentice system. Since those times Brian, together with others, took the concept of soft tissue treatment to RMIT, where he worked in developing a curriculum that transformed the basic earlier concept into a science. The curriculum was based primarily on the works of Dr Janet Travell and Dr David Simons, who are acknowledged for their pioneering work in the field of myofascial pain syndromes. Brian lectured at RMIT for 15 years and is a myotherapy practitioner. He has an Advanced Diploma in Myotherapy, a Bachelor of Education from the University of Melbourne, and is presently studying for a Bachelor of Health Science in Natural Medicine at Victoria University of Technology. Brian's knowledge and expertise in the treatment of myofascial pain has been acknowledged by Professor David Simons, the leading authority on myotherapy. Brian has also written a widely prescribed, definitive text on the subject (now in 2nd edition), which won the prestigious National TDK Talking Book Award in the text book section.
